Southlands High School Year 9 - Having Fun Developing Yourself
Today on the blog U Develop are pleased to welcome our guest bloggers Jasmine, Aimee, Maddison and Niamh from Southlands High School:
I walked into the room with my heart jumping for joy and a slight spring in my step. Everyone was already there but I didn’t care, I was here finally. I sat down next to my sister and my port folio was already sat on my desk waiting.
As I sat down in my place I couldn’t escape a grin and my eyes fell on my work and I couldn’t help but feel proud. I took out my vision board and grinned at the sight of my hopes and dreams.
My favourite part of the UDevelop programme has been when we worked on a software called Start by U-Explore. I looked into future jobs and the fact I could be earning £130,000 with experience for working as a Crime scene investigator. I sat and stared at the people opposite me wondering what roles they had researched. There was a history teacher and an army medic on our table.
This experience has really brought me out of my shell and I like people a little bit more. I’m glad we have 2 hours sessions focussing on careers and development because now I believe anything is possible and I can’t wait for the next session.
