5 DAY TRAINING COURSE TO ENHANCE EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS WITH TRUE COLOURS

The Employable Me digital programme ran on five days on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. The group sessions involved interview techniques, working in a team and recording skills. The five sessions have boosted the groups confidence well. Adam was very shy at first but as the weeks went on, his confidence was enhanced and he really enjoyed taking part in the recording sessions.

The first session involved the learners working in groups of two and writing down questions that could be asked at an interview. Some of the questions asked were “What type of job would you like?” and the sort of qualifications needed for the job that they want to go for.  They rehearsed the questions first and then recorded the interviews with other learners. The feedback came back positively as everyone enjoyed the session.

Another session was about advertisement and commercials. The learners took it in turns to say how brands are advertised such as Radio, television, newspapers etc. The learners also named brands and the audience they are aimed at. Afterwards, the learners wrote what Employable Me and true colours have to offer into full radio commercial scripts and then recorded on to microphones.

Caroline got everyone talking about what goes on at True Colours and we needed to construct some informative what’s on news bulletins; such as trips, discos, and work placements. The learners that have placements, spoke about how often they work, the job roles that they take on, the skills they have gained and how people can contact their work placement. Chloe spoke about the disco that she goes to every month and says that she really enjoys going and that she gets dressed smartly, has her makeup done and meets her friends whilst she is there. Adam spoke about the future trip to Liverpool Museum and that he is really looking forward to going and seeing all about the exhibits that will be on display.
